If I win lottery, I will buy a car.

It’s a conditional clause: not only  use if, but unless, as/so long as, on condition that

 

If I won lottery, I would buy a car.

If I had won lottery, I would have bought a car

They are subjunctive mood, only use  if

1. False 

2. On the opposite of a fact 

3. Something can’t be true

4. The speaker wants to express his strong mood

Subjunctive mood means: a mood that represent an act or state( not as a fact but) as contingent or possible

Three forms of subjunctive mood:

1.A suppose that it will be the opposite of a coming fact:

Clause: If+S+past V.(be: use were) , main sentence: S=should,would,could might+base V.

2. A suppose that it was the opposite of a past fact:

 Clause:If+S+had+p.p.

Main sentence: S+should, would,could, might +have +P.P.

3. . A suppose that it will be the opposite of a future fact:

Clause:If+S+P.P.(note:be---were)

             If+ S +were to+ base V.

             If+ S+should +base V.

Main sentence:  S+should,would,could,might+base V
