This is the speaking test of Li Daijian (James), and he is in 3BGII. And today is the tenth of June 2016.
              Getting a day off
James: (sounds of knocking the door) May I come in?
Lie: Yes, please, James!
James: Hello! Good morning!
Liz: Yes, How are you? I’m pretty good!
James: Very good! I’m sorry I want to ask for a…..,Would you mind giving me a day or half a day off, because my mother gave a telephone call and she said she would come here tomorrow morning?
Liz: James, you know we are really busy at the moment and just full time we need all the employees working with us.
James: Yes, I know that our company is a busy company and everyone’s work is busy. I know your difficulty.
Liz: Yes, yes.
James: But my mother doesn’t know English…..er, she speaks a little English.
Liz: Yes, James, however, as you know the ruling is: If you want a day off, you need to give a month's notice.
James: A month's notice. Yeah, I know that. I know our company’s rule is: if you want to get a day off, you must give a month's notice.
Liz: That’s right!
James: But this time the fact that my mother's coming here  is not in my plan, because she wants to see her great-grand-son early.
Liz: However, James. What happens with the work, I mean you know? You will missing Next Monday? You say?
James: My work I can make up the hours next Monday. Don’t worry about that.
Liz: When would you do that if you meet your mother?
James: After I met my mother, I'd take her to my house, then I would come back to our company. Don’t worry about the work.
Liz: OK, so you would definitely catch up on the work that you would miss by meeting your Mum?
James: Yeah. I would make up the time the day after tomorrow or the next week. Surely!
Liz: OK, James. I just want to see this in writing. So if you wouldn't mind typing that in an email to me. It’s difficulty, however, you are a good employee and we could make it an exception.
James: OK, Don’t worry. After this interview I will type an Email to you.
Liz: Very good.
James: Thank you! Goodbye!
