(博主按:本小诗20多年前就已经正式发表,前不久,帮一个年轻老师修改她去英国进修之前的英语作业,发现她对词汇的使用存在误区,就想到了这首小诗,因此,按照当时的手稿重新打出来,以飨诸位网友!)
English 英 语
As garden grow it with flowers , 花园里盛开着鲜花
English grows with words , 英语里活跃着词汇
Words that have secret powers, 词汇有神奇的力量
Words that give joy like birds. 词汇像小鸟给你欢畅。
Some of the words you say, 有些词汇口语用，
Both in and out of school, 校园内外均可行，
Are brighter than the day , 它们比白昼更明亮，
And deeper than a pool. 它们比池水还要深。
Some words there are that dance, 有些词汇受宠爱，
Some words there are that sign, 有些词汇在叹息，
The fool’s words come by chance, 傻瓜的词汇太贫乏，
The poet’s words to heaven fly. 诗人的词汇太富裕。
When you are grown, your tongue 当你长大成人时，
Should give the joys of birds.. 你的语言像百灵。
Get while you are young, 当你还是少年时，
The gift of English words. 就须掌握更多的词。
